There are still uninhabited places - sanctuaries where nature is free to do its thing unobstructed by human development. Espiritu Santo is one of them (specifically a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.) We spent four days camped out on its shores, sea kayaking, hiking, snorkeling, and fishing. The unfettered abundance of wildlife provided constant curiosities. There, in the Sea of Cortez, food is so bountiful that manta rays gather and jump from the ocean - whole schools of flying tortillas with tails. We encountered pufferfish puttering along in the shallows and pelicans dive bombing school of sardines. In preparation for the launch of Chaco’s Summer ‘19 Catalog, our crew of writers and photographers were brought to share in the idyllic landscape where land meets sea and amphibious footwear reigns supreme.
